ONE Magazine

The website for Johns Hopkins Carey Business School’s magazine, ONE, was difficult to maintain. Each page of the biannual magazine was hand-coded in HTML and manually archived in a different area each time a new issue was published.

Taking the existing design and content of the site, I converted the site to run on WordPress, and wrote a custom magazine issue system so that new articles could be entered into the WordPress admin over days or weeks; then with a few simple steps, a new issue would take the place of the old. To the site’s visitors, this transition was seamless.

Along the way, I also cleaned up the front-end code to be standards-compliant HTML and CSS and corrected a number of inconsistencies across the articles that developed as a result of the previous, labor intensive system.

The ONE magazine website is updated and maintained by Johns Hopkins staff.
